The girls and boys volleyball teams played a bunch of fun matches against Whitehorse schools onThursday and Friday November 21st-2nd. We had a lot of fun and played all day!
Takhini Elementary would like to thank Nordiq Canada -- AltaGas Ski-at-School Program for the generous donation that allowed our school to purchase a classroom set of cross country skis, bindings and boots. This will enrich our outdoor experiential learning this winter, and many more! We built a fantastic organized cupboard, where all the boots are labelled and stored. Our hanging ski storage, makes for quick access! As well, thank you to Jan at RPAY, who was very helpful with putting together the order, and to Coast Mountain Sports, who gave us a great deal! Takhinin teachers are ready to ski with their students! We just need some SNOW!!
On Friday, the girls volleyball team and some of the boys team took on a new challenge: playing against Takhini Staff! Although the teachers won this game, the team work award and audience spirit goes to the kids!
We welcomed Andrew from the Aboriginal Sports circle as well as tapping into our in-house expert, Ms Coates, and have begun a small study and practice of Arctic Sports. 35 students from Takhini will compete at the upcoming Arctic Sports Inter-School on November 27 and 28 at Vanier School.
Families! I'll bet you remember how exciting it was when the Gym Apparatus was pulled out back in Elementary School! We'll you can imagine the excitement when we pulled ours out (for the first time in a while) and let the K-7 have a blast. We are starting a Gymnastics unit in all grades during the month of November, as we practice balance, flexibility, and body control.
