Kindergarten Registration Q&A for 2021-22
There will only be a lottery for French Immersion programs this year if Selkirk Elementary or Whitehorse Elementary fill up.
If one school fills up, we will conduct a lottery for that school’s program and any student who does not get into that school will have the opportunity to get into the other school’s program.
We do our best to accommodate all students who register for French Immersion through our programs at Selkirk Elementary and Whitehorse Elementary.
We work very hard to try to accommodate all students in French Immersion between Selkirk and Whitehorse Elementary.
If your child does not get into the program, then we work with you to discuss options. Additional space opens in Grade 1, and students who have not been placed in French Immersion in Kindergarten can integrate into the program in Grade 1.
Once your child has been assigned to a school, the school will ask you to show a birth certificate or other proof of age for your child, and you will fill out some additional forms.
Once parents receive a notice of which school their child has been assigned to, they then need to complete the registration process with that school.
